Driver cum owner scheme Cab drivers urge govt to resolve issue

Hyderabad: Cab drivers of a private company, aggrieved by a company’s driver-cum-owner scheme, have requested the State government to intervene and resolve the issue amicably. The drivers of the company alleged that the company was refusing to give them ownership rights on the vehicle even after payment of installments, which they had published in the advertisements a few years back during the launch of the programme. The Mumbai-based company is fighting a case in Madhapur civil court on charges of luring people in to the scheme for its own benefit.

An advocate representing the drivers K Sai Krishna said that the cab company chose an inappropriate way to run the company in the city. “They have totally misled them on the government order for the driver-cum-owner scheme (GO MS 295),” he said. “The agreement signed by the drivers doesn’t state that the driver can own a vehicle after their all payments on installments, as published in the advertisements and company brochures,” he alleged.
