Mana Vuru-Mana Pranalika
The TRS government wanted a clear picture at the grass root level and decided to access the requirements right from the village level. The government called plans from the village, district and State level to prepare a comprehensive budget plan and presented budget of over Rs 1 lakh crore in the budget session.
Kalyana Lakshmi
The TRS government brought up Kalyana Lakshmi, which provides Rs 51,000 as wedding gift to Tribal, Dalit and Muslim (Shadi Mubarak) women, who are getting married.
Telangana increment
The TRS government kept its promise of giving Telangana increment to the employees for their
active involvement in the separate State agitation by taking part in the ‘Sakalajanula Samme’.
Loan waiver KCR-GR
The top most promise of the TRS government was waiver of loans of the farmers to the tune of Rs 1 lakh. Though the Reserve Bank was averse to the loan waiver, the TRS government said that the loans of the farmers would be waived as promised in the manifesto. The government decided to implement the loan waiver in phases. The government also extended the loan waiver to non-tribal farmers involved in farming in Scheduled areas. Rs 2,450 crores paid as first installment by the government.
KG to PG education
This is one of the important promises made by Chandrashekar Rao during the elections. The government aims to provide free, compulsory quality education from KG to PG. The chief minister said that a committee would be soon set up by the government to discuss the proposal of free and compulsory education program. The committee constitutes of academicians and leaders of various political parties, which will draw the basic lines for the proposed 'KG to PG' scheme.
Double bedroom houses
This was one of the many important promises made by the TRS before elections. The double bedroom house scheme is yet to take shape as the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was amused at the large scale corruption in housing sector during previous governments. The government ordered inquiry on the housing scam and is likely to start the scheme after the inquiry report is submitted.
Revival of toddy shops
This was one of the promise made before the elections by the TRS and though there is opposition from the people in general, the government started the toddy shops from Dasara.
Removal of taxes on autos and farm tractors
The TRS government as promised waived off road taxes on the autos and farm tractors. Though the decision would hamper revenues of the state to the tune of Rs 76.26 crore annually, the chief minister decided to waive the road taxes as promised in the party’s manifesto.
Intensive Household Survey
The government took up the intensive household survey though there was opposition from the opposition parties. The government successfully conducted household survey of about 1.06 crore households across the state in one day on August 19. The government wanted the database to be utilized to access needs of the people and streamline the implementation of welfare schemes.
Regularisation of contract employees
The TRS party had assured of regilarising the contract employees in the State and added that there would be no contract employee in the State. However, this has sparked row as the Osmania Students protested against any such move. With legal problems coming in the way, the government is going slow on this promise.
Improving brand image of Hyd
The TRS government decided to improve the brand image of Hyderabad by providing world class vehicles for the police personnel in the city. Over 300 Innova vehicles and two wheelers were given to the city on the lines of New York Police.
3 acres of land to Dalits
The government kick started the distribution of three acres land to the Dalits in the state from August. The chief minister for the first time hoisted national flag from Golkonda fort and distributed 3 acres of land to Dalits at the venue.
Enhancement of pensions
The government has started implementing the enhanced pensions to old aged persons, widows and Handicapped. The government gave Rs 1,000 in the form of cash in the first month of November to the beneficiaries. Rs 1,500 is being given to the handicapped.
Financial Assistance to the Students of TS (FAST)
The government brought out a new scheme FAST for the students of Telangana. The government prescribed 1956 as the cut off year for the nativity of the students. Government released Rs 500 crore of 1,500 crore fee reimbursement arrears.
Industrial Policy with best Single Window
The government claimed to have brought out best single window policy. KCR claimed that earlier ‘single windows’ had grills but now it is window without grills. The protocol officer would receive investors at airport and escort them to CMO and giving approval in 15 days.
Employment promise
TRS had promised a lot of jobs to the youth. However, there is no major progress except for the formation of separate Public Service Commission. The government told the Assembly that there were over a lakh posts in various departments.
Water Grid
Government proposes to lay water grid across the Telangana for providing drinking water on the lines of Gujarat Government. Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao had visited Gujarat to study the water grid project in the state.
Power front
This is a major problem with a deficit of 800 to 1200 MW of power shortage. As it would take at least three years to overcome the crisis, the government entered into agreement with Chhattisgarh besides promoting usage of solar power .
Reservations to SC, ST, Minorities
The government had promised to provide 12 per cent reservation each to SC, ST and Minorities, though there is no progress in this area. The CM?had hinted of forming a commission to study the living status of SCs, STs and Minorities.
No implementation of Pay Revision Commission’s Report
The 10th pay revision commission under P K Agarwal gave its report to the government of June 1. However, there is no talk of implementation of the recommendations of the commission. The employees have been eagerly waiting for this.
Encouragement to sports persons
For sports persons, the government decided to give Rs 3 lakh as expenditure for players participating in Olympic, Commonwealth and Asian Games, Rs 50 lakh for gold medal, Rs 25 lakh for Silver and Rs 15 lakh for Bronze medal winners.
