-refusal to tender apology for affront to national anthem

-Things turned ugly after the house assembled at 11 am, following a meeting of the floor leaders with Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary who examined the footage of the incident on Saturday. As decided, all the floor leaders wanted some of the ‘identified’ members to tender an apology.

Hyderabad : Ten Telugu Desam MLAs were suspended from the Telangana Assembly on Monday for the entire budget session for stalling the proceedings and refusing to tender an apology over the reported ‘disrespect to the national anthem’ during the governor’s address to the joint session of legislature on Saturday.

As the day’s proceedings began, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao wanted the TDP members to tender and unconditional apology and warned of serious steps for refusing to do so. The identified TDP MLAs soon trooped in to the well of the House and demanded protection of the rights of SCs and STs.
