Overseas scholarships for minority students

HYDERABAD: The government has planned a scheme for the benefit of minority community students who want to pursue an academic career in foreign countries following Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao’s directives in this direction.The scheme is planned on the lines of the one existing for encouraging scheduled castes students to study in foreign countries. Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned for the scheme this year. The Chief Minister told the officials that due to poor economic status, the minority community students were unable to go to foreign countries for higher education and said that the scheme would help them in this direction. He wanted that the SC, ST, BC and minority students should be supported to have higher studies.
