Activist condemns Paris attack


Civil Liberties activist G Haragopal called for unity among the creative people and civil liberties activists to protest incidents like the one in Paris in which staff of a magazine were killed.
Haragopal was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day international travel film festival – VIBGYOR on Saturday at Lamakaan in Banjara Hills. The international festival was brought to the city by two city based organisations Asmita and WE-mochana.

The festival comprises of an exhibition of 20 films by the individual filmmakers who documented the sensitive and critical issues based on gender, livelihood, religion, culture, environment, democracy, human rights, identity and secularism. Speaking at the programme, Haragopal appreciated the filmmakers for critically covering all angles of life. He encouraged filmmakers to continue with this spirit and make films based on real facts. He said that many of the writers, filmmakers and artists fear pointing finger at a religion after the Paris incident. He said that such festivals should be taken to all educational institutions in the city so that they could cultivate the cultural values and diversity of life to the students.
