Hyderabad: Forest Department officials are preparing the ground for issuing notifications for recruiting staff to fill vacancies and are eagerly waiting for amendments to the AP Subordinate Service Rules. Officials said that as soon as the rules are amended they would issue notifications for recruitment. They informed that the amendment is in active consideration of the government.
Despite acute shortage of staff in the department, the government is not recruiting staff due to bifurcation of the State. As per the existing Act, candidates from Andhra Pradesh could also apply for the vacant posts under the non-local quota of 20 per cent if job recruitment notifications are issued without amendments. However, this rule needs to be amended as the State has been bifurcated and Telangana government could allow only locals. In November 2014, the State forest officials submitted a proposal to the State government to make amendments in the State Forest Act and AP Subordinate Service Rules, 2011 along with few modifications so that aspirants from Telangana could only apply for jobs.
