RTI course huge hit in city

Hyderabad : There is seemingly a huge demand for an RTI course in Hyderabad if the number of enthusiasts who have registered for the online certification programme is any indication. The course, designed to bring about awareness and working knowledge on the RTI Act, has an estimated 10,000 people taking active part since its inception in 2009. Initiated by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) with the Centre for Good Governance, the course is open to all citizens of India and has generated a lot of interest among the public.

The endeavour has been well appreciated by both government officials as well as common citizens. According to J Lakshmi, programme manager at the Centre for Good Governance, the course has proven helpful to citizens from all walks of life. “We have received good feedback from top government officials and common citizens regarding this course. People from all walks of life, right from bureaucrats in the High Commission to store owners and housewives have used this programme. And going by their enthusiastic response, we further developed the course in Hindi and Telugu formats for the convenience of the public.
