Hyderabad : The ambitious project of the Revenue Department to seed the details of all pattadars (land title deed holders) with the individual Aadhaar numbers has hit a roadblock, with primacy being given to Water Grid project, Asara pension scheme, and the tank restoration programme of the State government.

Officials of the revenue department could achieve overall seeding of only 31.76 per cent since bifurcation on June 2, 2014. The state of Telangana has a total of 70,48,709 pattadars. Of this, officials have managed to seed the details of 22, 38,779 pattadars as of January 29, 2015. According to officials, the launch of a series of programs by the State government has prompted Tehsildars to shift attention from the ambitious programme.

The project was taken up with the prime objective of identifying farmers who own land more than the specified extent of acreage as per the existing AP Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agricultural Holdings) Act-1973, keeping the records of land owned by a family; achieving a unique ‘khata number’ for entire State by linking Aadhaar number to the records in the Webland system; and gathering the details of the total number of farmers in the State from the State Resident Data Hub (SRDH) to extend various welfare schemes to farmers.
